Our Journey Starts with a Fluff
FUWAMAI began with two childhood friends and one shared dream: to redefine what a bakery could be. Founded in 2024 by Chef Matthew Darmanin and Ramon Montebello, FUWAMAI introduced Malta to its very first Japanese soufflé pancakes - cloudlike, jiggly creations that quickly stole hearts.
But FUWAMAI was never just about one product. From the beginning, we envisioned a bakery rooted in craft, not categories. That means buttery viennoiseries, inventive milk bread sandos, and sweet treats that borrow from global flavours while sticking to our principles: no additives, no shortcuts, just exceptional ingredients and real technique.
Our name, FUWAMAI, means "fluffy sweet," and it perfectly captures what we aim to deliver - joy, texture, and quality in every bite. We're here for the food lovers, the curious eaters, and anyone who values a bakery that dares to do things differently.
